Ronald Lawrence Sackett, June 15, 1930 - April 14, 2017 of 625 Augusta Drive, Louisville, Colorado, was born in San Jose, California the 10th child of 11 to Jesse and Ethel (Bussard) Sackett. His father was a farm laborer and his mother a part-time school teacher. His first jobs beginning at age 7, were with his brothers and sisters picking prunes and apricots. He graduated high school from Mountain View Academy in 1949. He served in the United States Army for 21 months as a medic during the Korean War and for 6 months on the front lines. He completed a degree in business administration from Pacific Union College in Angwin, California during which time he worked as a dishwasher and then as an orderly at Santa Clara County Hospital. He spent his second year of college at Madison College in Tennesee. He was married to Eunice Anne Hafner in 1954 and together they had four children, John, Walter, Ronda and Audrey. After graduating college his first jobs were as an accountant and then an insurance agent for two years for Allstate Insurance Company in Santa Cruz, California. He was then hired as the Administrator for Santa Cruz Community Hospital and for eight years grew in responsibility helping the hospital double in size from 50 to 100 beds. He was then recruited to be the CEO at The White Memorial Medical Center, a 370 bed teaching hospital in Los Angeles California.
