Nancy Louise Mathers Oncley died unexpectedly at home in Boulder, CO, on 30 December, 2018. She is survived by her mother Janet Mathers, brother David Mathers, and sons Douglas and Alexander (Sasha) Oncley. She was predeceased by her father L Douglas Mathers and brother Paul Mathers. Nancy was born 11 May 1957 in Duluth, MN, and spent her youth in Cloquet, MN. She received her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Music Education from Concordia College. She was a letter carrier in Santa Ana, CA, where she married her husband of 31 years, Steven Oncley. In 1989, they moved to Boulder, where she continued working with the Postal Service. She played ‘cello in several community orchestras. Taking a break from work to raise her sons, she later volunteered with EFAA, Meals-on-Wheels, and various school functions. At the time of her death, she was assistant manager of the Boulder Salvation Army Thrift Store.

Nancy was driven by kindness and self-sacrifice. Her sense of humor enabled her to interact with anyone. She was a devoted mother to her beloved sons Douglas and Sasha. Nancy will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on 19 January at 4pm at the Greenwood and Myers Mortuary in Boulder. Memorial donations may be sent to the Emergency Family Assistance Association of Boulder.

I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the Mathers' and Oncley's Families for your loss of a dear one. This type of loss is always very difficult for both families and friends, but God's word offers the grand hope of a resurrection to life again. Jesus Christ said, "Do not be amazed at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". God's word extends to all the wonderful promise of a resurrection to a better life! John 5: 28-29 Learn more about this resurrection at JW.ORG

Frank and I are very saddened by the loss of Nancy. She and I first met in the late 1980's at a rehearsal of a brand new community orchestra in Boulder. Over the years, she, Steve, and I performed on cellos in a few different orchestras together, and even commuted to Loveland to perform with an orchestra there. We also shared social times --- dinner at their home, parties at our home and more recently, getting together for the after-parties following Broomfield Symphony concerts. Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve, Douglas, Sasha and other family members. Vicki and Frank
