Obituary

John Stanley Fisher Jr., 59, of Centennial, Colorado passed away on January 7, 2019. John was born on October 6, 1959 to John and Gwendolyn Fisher. John was self-made and successfully owned and operated CTC Janitorial Corp. for over 30 years. He was an incredible skier, motorcyclist, handyman, and adrenaline enthusiast. Growing up in Michigan, John developed a love for sports and the Detroit Lions (but supported his Colorado teams when they were winning.) Wanda and John were married on July 28, 1984 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora, CO. John is survived by his wife, Wanda; parents, John and Gwendolyn; children, Amber, Taryn, Summer and John III (Trey); siblings, Mark, Sheri, and Kevin; grandchildren, Aspen, Hayley, Ayden, Brecken, and Crosby; and many nieces and nephews. The Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, January 15 at 10:00 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. A reception will immediately follow.

John Stanley Fisher Jr. Eulogy Isaiah 26:15-18 The Message (MSG) But the living you make larger than life. The more life you give, the more glory you display, and stretch the borders to accommodate more living! I liked this verse because it speaks of being larger than life through Christ and how that helps us be more alive. This reminds me of John – he was larger than life. I am, Sheri, John’s sister. John is known in my household as “Big Boogie”. Rachael, my daughter, loving called by John, as “Little Boogie”. Now, I don’t know how, when or why this got started but John had a knack of reaching us all of us in a deep personal and meaningful way- whether it be by a loving nickname, an action, good deed or random act of kindness. How do I even begin to tell the life story of John Stanley Fisher Jr? …Big Boogie…the son, brother, husband, father and friend who we come together to remember today – I will do my best to speak on behalf of his loving family and friends. John’s faith helped him to be the man he came to be. Early on he served the church as an altar boy – likely this fashioned his servant heart. His faith may have been quiet, yet his actions spoke of God’s love. He would often turn to his faith in challenging times and would accompany my mother to weekly mass – John found solace in his faith. John had the following 7 characteristics in common with larger than life also known as Charismatic individuals: 1. One they have a unique voice with John I’m not so sure it was the voice but more so the mischievous raspy laugh …and that smile that lit up his face when he laughed 2. Two they are emotional – it’s not that John was laughing or crying – his emotion was demonstrated by his big expressions – look at the pictures you have and the ones you will see today, and you will see all of Johns’ incredible expressions 3. Three they are authentic – he was able to filter his expression and feelings so that he did not come across heartless or over opinionated 4. Four they make big gestures – John was a powerful force with his gestures of generosity- He had a heart for the elderly – as a young teen John would often be up at Mr. Hitchcock’s house in Ohio – helping him with yard work and common repairs around his house – as an adult John took care of his neighbor Ed –he built Ed a wheelchair ramp, Ed’s wife would call many timers including during the night and John was always there for them. Because John was also known as “Big John” because of his stature lifting Ed to the bed was a piece of cake. John would even bath Ed – I am a nurse by license – John was a nurse by nature. 5. Five they know how you fell – because of this John made us all feel uniquely special and important 6. Six It’s all about you - -John made us all feel valued and John loved being around people 7. Seven They are a person for all persons – look around the room – above all else you were not a title or status to John – you were a person – he gave you a chance no matter your race creed or color I have always said the real shame in challenging situations is not learning or growing from the event. I know right now in our grief it is hard to think about what there is to learn in a life lost too soon. John demonstrated his love for Christ by the way John lived his life and this verse gives us hope and encouragement in our days to come: 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 New International Version (NIV) 16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. In honor of John’s life please go out and make a difference and do loving acts of kindness so that through those moments Johns spirit lives on. I will leave you with this quote as this is especially meaningful to the family: “Be Kind, for everyone you meet is fighting their own battle.
