He and I ran a comic book shop by ourselves for an entire day. I was brand new and he was overwhelmed. Seemed like everything that could go wrong did in fact go wrong. Losing electricity. Huge decorations falling from the ceiling... But he was as calm as a Sensei. He was a staple of Time Warp. Was never the same without him being there crounched down around back issues. I will always remember you.

Kris was the first person I taught the entire Cheng Man-ch’ing’s Yang style 37 posture t’ai-chi ch’uan form to, start to finish. He took t’ai-chi very seriously and was very diligent in his practice. He was a pleasure to work with because of his dedication to the practice and his great personality. After we stopped doing t’ai-chi lessons, I would see him at the local comic shop, Time Warp, over the years. Just like in t’ai-chi practice, he was always working hard there, and he would always stop to greet me and ask how I was doing. My schedule recently opened up and I contacted him to start t’ai-chi lessons again, something he had often asked me about over the years. We were both really looking forward to continuing working together in our t’ai-chi practice. Sadly, only four days after we planned to practice t’ai-chi again, Kris passed away. I will think of you often while I practice t’ai-chi, Kris. Thank you for practicing with me.

Kris was a brilliant, hard-working, and thoughtful fellow who was nothing but a pleasure to work with at Time Warp Comics. I greatly enjoyed every conversation I've had with him, and I'll cherish each one in my memories.

Today is a sad day. With great sadness and regret, I am informing the Time Warp family that long time employee, customer and friend Kris Sorant passed way unexpectedly this past Sunday, February 17th. Kris was known here as "Back Issue Kris", a name given him by "Matt", another customer and long time customer. Kris worked so hard on our back issues, and was a fixture here for decades. He always strived to put the very best copies in our massive back issue bins. While always in bad health it seemed, and despite all that he worked very hard and often spent long hours working after the store closed when everyone else went home for the night. Whenever the rest of us were working Denver Comic Con , he ran the whole store all by himself for three days, a feat that always blew my mind. He was also a very intelligent fellow, and could expound on any and all subjects. World class knowledge. His favorite comic book characters were Spider-Man and the X-Men and he had a very comprehensive collection of those. His favorite musician was Buckethead! If you've been shopping here at all in the last couple of decades, you've run in to him, I'm sure. If any of you have pictures to share, I would appreciate it. My phone wiped anything older than last year, and I can't find one. He will be greatly missed by all of us here at the store, and many former employees who worked with him. He was only 46 yers old. I don't have any details yet. As I find out more details, I will post them here, or on our website Memorial service details are forthcoming. Whenever an employee, customer and friend passes away, it leaves a whole in my heart that never heals. Kris was all of these, and the world is a sadder place without him in it . RIP, brother. We loved you !
