Obituary

Obituary for Rosemarie Fridge
b. October 14, 1927 d. May 9, 2019

Rosemarie Fridge formerly of 1400 S. Collyer St. Longmont, Co died peacefully in her sleep May 9, 2019.

Her life began October 14, 1927 in a little ranch house near Merriman in western Nebraska. Unable to reach the hospital in time, her father, Vernon Brown stopped at a farmhouse with his wife Mabel (Malone) Brown.

Rosemarie spent her childhood years in the Boulder-Longmont area of Colorado. She began 1st grade at ColumbineSchool in Hygiene, attended Batchelder Elementary, Boulder Jr. Academy, Campion Academy in Loveland and graduated from Shelton Seventh-day Adventist Academy in Shelton, NE in 1945

Throughout her years Rosemarie had a variety of work experiences including employment at a Rayon Factory in Painesville, OH; Esquire Magazine in Boulder; IBM, Red Riding Hood Nursery, and Porter Hospital as a physical therapist. She enjoyed selling Playhouse Toys, Swipe and Amway cleaning fluids, and Tupperware. As a young adult she enjoyed distributing christian books as a Literature Evangelist.

Rosemarie was a Master Gardener, accomplished artist, and sought after seamstress. She learned to do upholstery and recovered sofas to motorcycle and airplane seats. She baked wedding cakes and made beautiful flower arrangements and corsages. She won Grand Prize in an art show and sold many of her paintings in the Denver area. Above all, she enjoyed sharing her faith with others.

But her greatest accomplishment was the raising of six children, baking decorator birthday cakes, sewing
specialized costumes, and having dinner on the table every night at 5.

Rosemarie met Richard P. Fridge, Sr. at a skating rink in Boulder, CO and they were married on April 17, 1947. She is survived by her four sons: Richard and Colleen of Denver, CO; Roger and Charlene of LaSalle, CO; Ronald of Hot Sulphur Springs, CO; Randy and Nancy of Ft. Worth, Texas and two daughters: Renee and Clarence McKey of Great Falls, MT; and Roberta and Rodney Dillon of Armona, CA. She has two grand-daughters, Katrina Hopkins and Jean Wiegand and nine grandsons: Richard III, Tim, Dan, Brian, Gabe and Joshua Fridge; James McKey; and Matt and Grant Dillon. Rosemarie has 13 great-grandchildren: Andrew and Miranda Hopkins; Jaicee, Luke, and Sadie Wiegand; Nadiyah Molinari; and Richard IV, Carson, Kylie, Alissa, Jeremiah, Ryah and Atticus Fridge. Her sister-in-law Melva Fridg, resides in Ohio. Rosemarie is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61years and four brothers, Robert, John, Lou and Carl Brown.

Internment is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 15 at Ft Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.

Officiating Clergy is her son-in-law, Clarence McKey of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Joyce Mayden

My name is Joyce Adele (Christensen) Mayden. My mother was Ethel (Malone) Christensen and was the youngest in her family. Her older sister, Mabel (Malone) Brown was Rosemarie's mother. Rosemarie was my cousin. She was a few years older than I so of course I always looked up to her. I thought she was so pretty. I have a vague memory of visiting their family when I was probably around six or seven and Rosemarie chose to entertain me. She found a cereal box that was empty and put the empty box on one of my feet and since there was only one empty box she used the paper from inside the box for my other foot. That gave me "fancy" shoes to wear!!! Doesn't that sound like creativity on her part? Somewhere I have a snapshot of this which I have not been able to locate. Looking back, I realize how very kind she was to pay that much attention to me - a little squirt - when she must have been at least eleven or twelve. That was very sweet of her.

I try to help our Malone family cousins keep in touch as much as possible. My mother's generation had a Family Letter that was sent around from oldest to youngest for regular contact with each other. As that generation gradually passed away, the next generation has tried to keep the tradition going but with everyone being scattered so far away it has been difficult. A few of the cousins (my generation) have had an interest in genealogy and there has been quite a bit of research in Malone family history. One cousin, Edna, produced a book that is a real treasure. My brother, Deryl Christensen, also had a big interest in family history as did Rosemarie. Now they are both gone so I don't know who else might carry on this tradition.

There are many good things to remember about Rosemarie and I look forward to heaven when we will have time to visit all we want. Blessings to all.
