Obituary

Dr. Marian Kirk died Monday, March 9, 2020 at age 73. Marian was born in Houston, Texas on July 27, 1946 to William Lutz and Effie Jean Elrod Lutz. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Houston. She earned her Doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University. Gig‘em Aggies! Over her 40+ year career as an educator, Marian worked as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and university instructor. She truly loved working with children and continued to work full-time at the Loveland Classical Schools in Loveland, CO until the time of her death.

Marian is survived by her son John Kirk, his wife Jennifer Kirk, and two granddaughters of Louisville, CO. Marian loved all animals and enjoyed horseback riding and sailing. Marian delighted in life and was filled with joy through these many years that I knew her. We came to know each other through education, a passion for both of us. I was a professor of Educational Leadership at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and she at the time was an assistant principal in Conroe ISD. We both loved the water, kayaking, swimming and more. I visited her at her home in Huntsville and in Conroe and we shared some time in Galveston jumping the waves and walking along the beach. Later, she became my student at SHSU just prior to her move to Texas A & M for her doctorate. I advised her as she moved along and visited her when she asked me to come to Conroe to help her in a problematic time there. I told her one of her best "tools" was her beautiful smile. If she would say things with a smile, it would help things to move in her direction. After moving east and then back to Abilene,Texas as a professor, my husband and I would stop and visit overnight with her as we traveled from our home to the west coast. Our visit was always a highlight of the trip. When there I would go with her to visit her horse and watched her ride several times. Loved her huge smile. And so we corresponded and she sent me photos of her new home, her granddaughters and family. And last year she told me sadly of her sisters and their deaths. We had hoped to get together to share some more....not on this earth but ultimately I believe , Yes! So I am thankful to God that I knew Marian, that we shared time worshiping, playing and just enjoying life. I miss her fiercely already but know this is not the end. I will see you later, dear friend. Dr. Marion Czaja
