Ruth Fischer Meyer 97, of Boulder, died peacefully in hospice on January 29,
2021. Born in 1923 in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Charles Fischer Sr. and Dorothy Fischer.

Her husband of 43 years, Walter, and her brothers Robert Fischer, and Charles Fischer predeceased Ruth. She is survived by her children Emily Dillman of Longmont and Stephen Meyer of Louisville and her grandchildren, Lon Dillman, Wade Dillman, Allison Meyer and Keenan Meyer. She has six great-grandchildren.

Ruth graduated from East High School in Denver (1941) and attended the University of Colorado. She belonged to the Chi Omega Sorority. She graduated with a nursing degree in 1946 and worked in Honolulu and New York City.

Ruth was introduced to her husband Walter through mutual friends at St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver. He was a general contractor living in Grand Junction where the couple lived following their marriage in 1950.

Ruth was a skier (up to the age of 70) and golfer, an avid bridge player, and CU Football Fan - she was a member of the Buffalo Belles.

Ruth was always a happy person and an inspiration to those whose lives she touched. Her Christian faith was her foundation.

Her family asks that in lieu of contributions, people simply remember Ruth's charitable and friendly spirit, and give to those they encounter who need a helping hand.

An on-line memorial service for Ruth will be announced. A link to the Zoom service will be added to this memorial page when the time and date are set.

Our family was so blessed to have Aunt Ruth in our lives for as long as we did. Her faith in God was so strong and she shared how ready she was to meet Jesus. It was always fun visiting with her- listening to her share stories about her childhood and getting her advise on my Dad ( after Mom passed) . She had so much love to give and our family was very lucky to have the family gatherings with all my cousins especially the holidays. Aunt Ruth was loved and will be missed - so thankful we have the wonderful memories we can continue to share with each other.

I will forever treasure my Aunt Ruth. What a testament she was to living by her faith, family and friends. She loved our holiday gatherings, family reunions, lively card games and every opportunity to travel. She will always be in my heart and mind with all those memories she helped make. As we all know, Aunt Ruth never missed a “Kodak moment”.

What a strong, beautiful spirit you shared with the world. Your faith was inspirational. You saw and experienced so much in the 97 years that you graced this world. Thank you for bringing Steve into this world, I will take care of him like I promised you. We'll always be aware of your loving spirit watching over us and helping us. It's comforting to know that we have such a strong angel on our side!

By taking care of me, Rita means that she knows how to make my mom's brownies. The best brownies ever. She will make them and feed them to me regularly. I'm so grateful Rita has the recipe.
