Alan E. Swanson was born May 24, 1957 in Oak Park, Illinois. He moved to Boulder Colorado in 1975 to attend the University of Colorado where he remained an avid Buffs Fan!
Alan had a long and successful career in the banking industy. He started with United Bank of Boulder and Colorado National Bank and Market President for Vectra Bank in Boulder. His most recent position was Vice President of Corporate Banking for Merrill Lynch.
Alan was very involved in the Boulder and Longmont communities. He was President of the Boulder Philharmonic, Chair of the Capital Campaign for the People's Clinic, American Cancer Society, and the Longmont Humane Society.
Alan was an avid sports fan and quite an athlete himself. He loved to ski hard, bike hard, and exercise daily.
Alan was married to Alice Swanson for 28 years and they had an incredibly successful and vibrant friendship and marriage.
Because of his love of people and fun he is surrounded by hundreds who consider him part of their family.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Frank Swanson. He is survived by his wife Alice Swanson, mother Louise Freda Swanson of Boulder, Colorado, sisters Kathleen Shanks of Jupiter, FL, Noreen Hirsch of Winnetka, IL, Arleen Morrow of Golden, CO. Nieces Jennifer Marinak of New York, Kim Hirsch of New York, Brittany Morrow and Brianna Morrow of Boulder, CO, and nephews Andrew Horning of Boston, MA and Stephen Horning at West Point Military Academy in New York.
