Ann Marie Ballard passed away unexpectedly in her home in Boulder on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She was 65 years old.
Ann was born in Sandusky, Ohio on October 8, 1955 to Charles J Westerhold and Norma J (Giltnane) Westerhold. She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1974, and received her AA degree from Bowling Green State University. She worked in several industries during her career, including insurance, law and office management. She worked for many years at the Boulder School of Massage Therapy.
Ann married David Ballard on February 18th, 1978, and they moved to Takoma Park, Maryland where she gave birth to Jacob Charles and Jessica Ann. In 1985 they moved to McKnightstown, Pennsylvania, and then to their current home in Boulder in 1990.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Dale and Grant. She is survived by David, her husband of 43 years, son Jacob, daughter Jessica, sister Joyce Westerhold, brothers Lee (Pam); Drew (Brenda); Scott (Jill); Matt; Jay; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Ann was an avid sports fan and alternately followed the Browns, Redskins, Broncos and Avalanche. Oh, and let’s not forget the CU Buffs. She loved travel, having been to Alaska, Belize, Costa Rica, and many times to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, MX. She liked airshows and was fascinated by the flying skills of the Blue Angels. She had many hobbies and interests, but beaded jewelry was her latest endeavor and she was quite adept, creating many beautiful pieces for her family and friends. Ann loved thrifting and possessed a unique sense of style as evidenced by her collection of galvanized metal, colored bottles and Christmas decorations. She enjoyed camping and observing wildlife and nature, particularly in National Parks. Ann spent many hours on her patio visiting with friends, or sitting quietly with a rum and coke working on a puzzle while enjoying the sounds and smells of the night. She was an enigma, and will be terribly missed.
There will be a service at 2 pm on Saturday July 24th at Greenwood and Myers, followed by a celebration of life at her residence, 5484 Raritan Place, Boulder.
