Antoinette M. Puleo passed from this life on October 14, 2019, one month shy of her 93rd birthday. A long-time resident of Boulder, Colorado, Ann was predeceased in 1969 by her husband Frank M. Puleo. Ann is survived by her four children, Karen Masek (Robin Masek II), Elaine Puleo (John Buonaccorsi), Robert Puleo (Scott Rhinehart), Steven Puleo (Susan Kraft), grandchildren Christopher DiNottia, Sarah Purdy, Robin Masek III, Jessica Summers, Gene Buonaccorsi, Brooke Kraft-Puleo and three great-grandchildren, Sadie and Ari Wolfson and Brody Chavez.
Ann was born and raised in Rochester, NY as a part of a large and loving Italian family. Moving to Boulder in 1979, Ann earned her Associates Degree in Accounting at the University of Colorado, Boulder and worked at several local businesses, including the University of Colorado.
In the 1980’s Ann discovered her life’s passion as an HIV/AIDS activist and volunteered for 26 years at the Boulder County Aids Project. She was the first face to greet new clients at the front desk, ran their food pantry and was a true friend to anyone who walked through their doors. In 2014 she was awarded the BCAP Local Legends Award given to those who made a historic difference in the lives of those affected by HIV. She considered this award one of her highest life achievements.
Ann loved enjoyed traveling to see her family from Arlington VA to Seattle WA and all stops in between. She was never averse to adventure from Inner Passage cruises to steamboating on the Mississippi, from camping under the stars in Aspen Colorado to riding a gondola in Venice. She traveled widely and made friends all along the way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boulder County Aids Project in her name. A family service will be held in Rochester New York in the spring.
