Barbara Ann Knollenberg

Barbara Ann Knollenberg, aged 81, passed away on her birthday, October 22, 2024, in Boulder, CO, the city where she made significant contributions through her creative ventures. Born on October 22, 1943, in suburban Milwaukee, WI, Barbara pursued an education that fueled her passion for design, earning both a BS and a Master's in Home Economics from the University of Wisconsin. Her advanced Master's degree project was silk screen printing on fabrics. Barbara lost her life in Boulder CO after falling in a Boulder Parking Lot creating a blunt force trauma head injury, on the 16th of October. She took her last breath of air on earth at 8:38 PM on October 22nd and her first breath in heaven a few seconds later.

Barbara had fundamental success in her battle versus cancer using a Drug Trial Medicine at Anschutz Cancer Clinic in Aurora, CO. This cleaned up Barbara's cancer cells in her brain, chest, and abdomen over a six month period as attested to by the oncologist's diagnostics in April and July of 2024. There were no identified cancer cells observed! Her death via a fall was thus very unfortunate given her successful battle against cancer.

She is survived by her husband Robert at 85, who developed particle sizing instruments and afforded Barbara stability in addition to cherished love. Her parents both passed away over a decade ago; Barbara left behind three children: Scott, 57; Jennifer, 55; and David, 54. Barbara also left behind three grandchildren: Rose, 17; Kastl, 13: and Fia, 6. There remain three sisters of Barbara: Patricia, 81; Sandra, 78; and Carle, 67.

Barbara's career was marked by her entrepreneurial spirit and artistic flair. She opened two successful businesses in Boulder: the Peacock, a Boutique, and Design Celebration, a women's clothing store. Her creativity was recognized in 1978 when she won the top award for exhibiting at an Art Show in Boulder, a testament to her innovative designs and dedication to her weaving craft. In addition to her professional achievements, Barbara was deeply engaged in her personal artistic pursuits: She began as an artistic weaver, later channeling her creativity into designing women's clothing and eventually crafting her own jewelry. Her artistic vision was evident across all her creations, bringing beauty and style to everyday life. Barbara also supported interior design architects in building our Boulder, CO home, as well as the newest one in Sedona, AZ.

Barbara attended both Presbyterian and Catholic services, reflecting her inclusive approach to community and faith. Her religious commitment was part of her broader engagement with the community, where she was well-respected and loved.

A memorial service "A Celebration of Barbara's Life" will be held on December 2nd to honor Barbara's rich life and legacy. Her contributions to the fields of design and art will be remembered by all who knew her and were touched by her work and had knowledge of all Art spiritually.
