Barrie Semans McRoberts, born 7 May 1937 Lakewood, OH, son of Maxwell W. & Ruth (Semans) McRoberts. Barrie died 21 Aug 2014 at Balfour Cherrywood Village, Louisville from Alzheimer's. His family moved to Colorado Springs, where he graduated from Colorado Springs High School. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1963 receiving his B.A. degree in English. He married in Denver 6 July 1963 Mary L. Pesek. They lived in Boulder, CO until 2002 when they moved to Lafayette, CO.
When he was a teenager he was quite a good photographer and won an award with one of his photos from the Colorado Springs newspaper. He and his brother Eric rode their bikes through Europe for several months before they headed off to college. He talked about his trip for years. He finally graduated from college in 1963 after seven years. He absolutely loved college life and would have stayed there forever if he could. He worked at the Sink for a year or so, making those Sink Burgers and performing the job of bouncer. Barrie and Mary owned and managed a few apartment houses for several years.
He was employed at Beech Aircraft and then Ball Aerospace as a Senior Subcontract Administrator in the Procurement Department for a combined total of forty years. Barrie enjoyed jazz music and played the guitar, flute and piano for his own pleasure. His hobbies were hiking, weather, being a handyman, reading and financial investing. He was a free spirit, loved nature and the universe and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He spent countless hours with his children and grandchildren playing music, sledding and camping, etc. Barrie was a member of the Columbia Cemetery Conservation Corps and enjoyed his time working in the cemetery in Boulder. His ashes will be buried there at a later date.
Barrie is survived by his wife Mary, son Aaron McRoberts and his wife Teresa, daughter Corinne Gunn and her husband Mandell, and grandsons, William McRoberts, Blake and Owen Wright and step-grandson Jazz Gunn. He is also survived by his brother David McRoberts of Boulder. His brother Eric McRoberts died July 2008.
