Carol Stanwood (77) died unexpectedly in Boulder Community Hospital on October 11. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut on February 16, 1939, the eldest child of Charles and Rosemary (Culme-Seymour) Stanwood. Carol graduated from Smith College, with a BA in Philosophy and later earned three MA's -- in Business, Psychology and Counseling. She lived most of her business working life in New York. Carol moved to Colorado in 1993, worked in several non-profits (Hospice and Habitat) before obtaining her Colorado counseling license which allowed her to pursue her lifelong and heartfelt interest in psychotherapy. For the last several years, Carol found a wonderful community of friends living at Golden West Manor in Boulder. In many ways her last years were the happiest and most fulfilling ones of her life, filled with meaningful work, opportunities to sing and pursue her lifelong love of music, and surrounded by friends and family. Carol is survived by her brother Michael Stanwood; sister and brother-in-law, Tessa and Alan Davis; step-brother, Charles (Sybil) Buell; nieces Allison and Laura Davis, nephew, Cameron Brennan, great nephew, Gabriel Russell, and several cousins. She was loved and will be greatly missed not only by her family but by a wide community of extended family and friends. A Celebration of Carol's life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22nd. Memorial contributions may be made to either Golden West or CU's School of Music.
