Carrie Anderson Butler, of Boulder CO, formerly of Ridgewood, New Jersey died peacefully on December 10, 2017. A thirty-four year resident of Ridgewood, she served as Deputy Mayor and Council member of the Village of Ridgewood from 1982 to 1986.
Born in La Junta, Colorado on March 19, 1928, she was raised in the West. She graduated with honors from the University of Colorado, majoring in journalism for her BA degree.
After college she pursued a career in New York City in public relations, working for Carl Byoir Associates and as assistant public relations director for Raymond Loewy, the industrial designer.
She married John R. Butler, II in July, 1953, and later they settled in Ridgewood, NJ to raise their family of three children.
She was predeceased by her husband, John R. Butler II, in 2004 and is survived by her three children Mary Helen Butler Carroll and spouse Tom of Broomfield, CO., John R. Butler, Ill and spouse Kim of Glen Rock, NJ and Patrick B. Butler and spouse Sarah of New York, NY. In addition, Mrs. Butler is survived by seven grandchildren: Mary Carroll, Catherine Butler, John R. Butler, IV, and spouse Ashley (with great-granddaughter Evangeline), Sara Butler, Ann Butler, Natalie Butler and Lucy Butler.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus, Boulder Colorado. Interment will be held at Valleau Cemetery, Ridgewood N.J. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to Carrie's memory to:
