It is with great sadness that the family of Dan Hiesterman announce his passing in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday, October 27th, 2024 at the age of 82.
He was born in Durant, Iowa to Alfred and Helen Hiesterman. He met the love of his life, Carol DeGreve and in 1964 they married, having one child, their son Karl.
Dan was a certified Master Automobile Mechanic and a known expert in the maintenance and repair of Sports and Vintage automobiles and motorcycles.
They moved to Boulder in 1973 and have been fixtures there ever since. A lifelong motorcycle racer and rider, Dan soon established himself as a helpful curmudgeon within that community, and across the town as a whole. Among his favorite sayings were "Sorry don't get it done, dude" and "Courage is being afraid and saddling up anyway". His wicked sense of humor tickled those who knew him, and he had a life-long love affair with German Potato salad. He was a gem; he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol; His son Karl (Andrea Beesley); and grandchildren: Matthias and Athena
