Debbie Gripp, 52, of Broomfield, Colorado passed away on July 30, 2014 after a courageous battle against breast cancer. Debbie was born on November 10, 1961 in Davenport, Iowa to Eugene and Doris Holmes. Debbie graduated from Assumption High School in 1980. On September 20, 1986 Debbie married Mike Gripp at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport, Iowa. Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her rose garden, and making trips to the mountains in Colorado. Debbie is survived by her husband, Mike; son, Tony Gripp and fiancée Katie Arp; daughter, Brittany Gripp; and siblings Scott Holmes and Liz Copeland. Other survivors include her two special pets, Louie and Zoey. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David. Visitation will be Monday, August 4th beginning at 6:30pm with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Boulder, Colorado. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 5th at 1:00pm at Sacred Heart of Mary. The burial and reception will immediately follow the funeral at St. Bernard Hall adjacent to the Church. Debbie has touched countless lives and left an extraordinary legacy through her acts of kindness, humility, and grace. The family would like to thank the many wonderful doctors that cared for Debbie throughout her journey at the University of Colorado Hospital, especially Dr. Anthony Elias and Clinical Nurse Laurie Wright. The attending pallbearers will include Joe DePaepe, Harvey Ellsworth, Scott Holmes, Mark Hull, Sam Karambelas, Paul Stromgren. Contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary in Debbie’s name.
