Donald “Don” L. Young was born in Denver March 7, 1958 to Willie Young and Sylvia Sergeant. He went to heaven on March 5, 2018. He will be known for always bringing a smile or a laugh to everyone who knew him and some who didn’t. He was extremely quick-witted and always had a quick comeback for everything.
He held many positions in his lifetime. In his early adulthood, he worked on a tobacco farm, in a panty factory, and as a skilled roofer. When he became a father, he continued roofing while attending night school where he received an associate’s degree in Electronics from Denver Institute of Technology. Upon completion of his degree, Storage Technology in Louisville, CO recruited him as an Electronics Engineer. He held this position for 20+ years. Following his lengthy career at Storage Technology, he accepted a job with Maxtor in Longmont, CO until the company ceased and he was given an option to transfer to Seagate in Longmont where he worked until 2015. Many of his co-workers followed the same career path and he was grateful to maintain many long-lasting friendships with people he worked with.
In his Spare time, Don enjoyed collecting cars and working on them, hunting, fishing, camping, and his hobby of working on and building computers. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his pups. In 2010, his granddaughter Brooklyn was born – he and his daughter had always been inseparable, and his relationship with his granddaughter took the same path. She was the light of his life. He was a wonderful husband to Brenda who he was a friend and companion to for more than 40 years. He was the best dad, grandpa, and father-in-law in the world (beyond words) to Sabrina, Brad, and Brooklyn, a wonderful son, uncle, nephew, cousin and a friend to all and a trusted advisor to many. The world is better because he was in it.
He is survived by his Wife - Brenda Young, Daughter - Sabrina Stouffer, Son-in-law - Brad Stouffer, Granddaughter - Brooklyn Stouffer, Father - Willie Young, Brothers - Bill Young and Eddie Young, and Sisters - Kathy Parish and Pamela Garren. Many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and pets that were very dear to him also survive Don.
His Mother - Sylvia Rewis, Brother – Kevin Young, and his maternal and paternal grandparents precede him in death.
Please honor Don by being weird, living your life to the fullest, being kind, and making someone laugh every day regardless of the circumstances.
Donations can be made to the family or to the CSU Veterinary hospital in Ft. Collins, CO.
