Doris Vivian Mosteller Bailey, 90, died on March 29, 2017 at Sunrise of Westminster where she has been a resident for seven years. She and George, her late husband of 67 years, moved to Thornton in 1956 where they were involved in many activities. Doris grew up on the family nursery in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Wichita’s East High School, Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina where she met George, and the University of Denver with a masters degree in library science. She worked as a teacher and librarian. She was active in the Adams County Democratic Party and served many years as an election judge. In 2003 she was recognized by the city council as Thornton’s outstanding volunteer. She is survived by her daughter Sharyn Bailey Corson (Dan) of Boulder, granddaughter Laura-Claire Corson currently of Amman, Jordan, and grandson Bailey Corson of Fort Collins, as well as eight of her 14 siblings. Donations in her memory are requested to be made to humane societies or dumb friends leagues.
