Rev. Dr. Dorothe Jean Blackmere, a longtime resident of Boulder, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Dorothe was born on July 18, 1936 in Los Angeles, California to Fred Kees and Amy (Merritt) Kees. She graduated from Bell Gardens High School in Los Angeles County California.In her 30s, Dorothe met and married the love of her life Victor Blackmere who shared her beliefs and philosophies and worked by her side in the Church of Tzaddi. Dorothe and her mother Rev. Dr. Amy Kees founded the Church of Tzaddi, originally called the Open Door of Love, in Bell Gardens, CA. Tzaddi is a metaphysical church that welcomes and supports people in experiencing the infinite, loving, co-creative presence of the Divine and exhorts people to develop their relationship with God through higher consciousness, attained in prayer, meditation, service, and growth. Tzaddi considers heart as the most important doorway to God, love as the highest expression of God, and the physical body to be the temple of God on Earth. Dorothe and Amy retired as founding Bishops of the Tzaddi Church in 1991 and Tzaddi has since spread throughout the United States with a presence in Mexico and the United Kingdom. Dorothe and Amy co-authored the book Developing Spiritually (http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/developingspiritually).After retiring as co-founding Bishop of Tzaddi, Dorothe continued her work loving and helping those in need by assisting mentally disabled adults.Dorothe enjoyed travelling to Santa Fe NM, New York, Hawaii, Italy, Spain, North Africa, Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland, London, Paris, Monaco and Sicily with her oldest and dearest friend Patricia Upczak. Dorothe is survived by her mother, Amy, children Cindy (David) Euler, Tiffany (Mamoun) Rhazi, Fred (Connie) Blackmere, RaeAnne (Shannon) Roseman, two step-children, Vic (Ilka) Blackmere, Lynda Beadle, 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.A celebration of life will be held Sunday, February 19 from 1PM to 4PM with a time for sharing at 2PM at the Association for Community Living (ACL).
