Eleanor M. Bradley, 83, of Boulder, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at home of natural causes. She was born on August 1, 1937 in Flushing, NY to the late Anton Handler and Madeline (Reich) Handler.
Eleanor was a 1954 graduate of Flushing HS, Brockport State Teachers College in Rochester, NY, and Columbia University (masters) in NYC. She began her teaching career in Nassau County, Long Island, NY. She taught many years in New York and Colorado and retired from Tennyson Knolls Elementary School in Adams County District 50, Westminster, CO.
Eleanor met her husband, George, at the Hunter Mountain Ski Resort in New York. They were married August 17, 1963 and decided to move out west to Colorado. They started a family and eventually built their dream home and horse barn on acreage in Boulder.
She and George enjoyed attending the theater with friends. They were longtime subscribers of the Denver Center of Performing Arts. They were members of the Boulder Country Club. She also enjoyed gardening and investment club. After retirement she was active in the Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority where she held executive positions including President.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, George J. Bradley. She is survived by daughters, Elaine Bradley McCarthy of Indiana and Joyce K. Bradley of Vail, CO, two grandsons, Bradley and Collin McCarthy, a brother, William “Bill” (Beth) Handler of Whitestone, NY, a sister-in-law, Joan Lonergan, of Florida, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
