Elizabeth Tracy

August 26, 1943 — May 23, 2024

Elizabeth "Beth" Tracy of Loveland, Colorado, and formerly of Middletown, New York, passed away Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, at age 80 with family by her side. She was buried at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder, Colorado.

Born August 26, 1943, in Jacksonville, Florida, Beth was youngest of Mary Norton and Edward Thomas Tracy's two children. Proud of her family's pioneering southern American roots, she was raised in Jacksonville; Demopolis, Alabama; and Augusta, Georgia. Beth was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School where she received a near-perfect SAT score. She first married Arnold Shindelman in New York City in 1964, and they lived in Brooklyn, Queens Village, and Warwick, New York where Beth fondly named their home, "Ladybug Hill." She married Richard Kivler in Las Vegas in 1999, and they lived in Orange County, NY. Beth worked in a variety of jobs from bookkeeper in midtown Manhattan to health care provider for the mentally disabled at Letchworth Village in Rockland County to certified pharmacy tech for the New York State prison system. She was an avid reader; history buff; literacy tutor; bird enthusiast; cat lover; antique shop browser; master Scrabble, Suduko, crossword puzzle, and word game champion; and she was a mean BINGO competitor at the assisted living facility where she lived for six years. In her prime, Beth was an active walker and naturalist, and she was a memorable sightseeing planner.

Beth is survived by a daughter, Ellen Shindelman Kowitt and her husband Shai of Erie, Colorado; granddaughters Cameron and Samantha Kowitt; son, Mark Shindelman of Arlington, Virginia; brother Stephen Tracy and his wife Joan of Virginia Beach; and nephews and nieces, Thomas Tracy, Michael Tracy, Jonathan Tracy, Brian O'Looney, Erin O'Looney, Jay Shindelman, and Daryl Rosen Huitt.
