Frances Tidwell Bronzan passed away at home on Saturday, March 3, 2018, in the loving arms of her daughter Ashley and husband Tom.
Frances (Frani, F.T.), was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Helen Joan Tidwell and Francis J. Tidwell, on December 30, 1946. She was raised in the picturesque Colonial Village of New Castle on the Delaware with her two sisters and one brother. When she received her first library card, as a girl, her goal was to read all of the books in the New Castle Library.
Frani’s insatiable curiosity and sharp intellect permeated her daily life and was a benefit to all who knew her. Frani was constantly learning from those around her, from books, and from cultural events. She was aware of what was happening locally, as well in the world. Frani’s ability to ask informed and relevant questions to people from all walks of life, allowed her to carryon conversations with seemingly anyone. She made friends wherever she went and was respectful of everyone. She brought a fresh perspective to situations and saw the good in others. Frani noticed details that others missed. She enjoyed sharing what she learned with those who listened. Frani appreciated diving into deep conversations. Others sought her out for her calm presence and non-judgmental listening. Frani never quit and never complained. Frani found and shared joy everyday. She could make any occasion special. She had a bright smile, a joyful laugh and the ability to find humor in unexpected places. Frani savored life; especially, good food, engaging conversation, music, and her time in museums.
Frani worked for the Department of Commerce for forty years in the Library and Finance. She also worked at University Hill Elementary school while Ashley was in elementary school.
Frani’s Joie de Viver will be greatly missed!
