Frances Owens

Frances Hart Owens, 94, of Boulder, Colorado passed away on April 2, 2013 in Boulder. Fran was born on June 30, 1918 in Boston to Byard Stanley and Eleanor Young Hart. Robert G. Owens Jr., Major General USMC Ret. and Fran were married in Honolulu on October 30, 1941. Fran lived many years in Newport Beach, California before moving to Boulder. Fran was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She actively supported her husband Bob’s long and distinguished career in the Marine Corps. Fran raised their children and took care of the family home during Bob’s many overseas tours of duty. She was adored by her entire family and a great source of inspiration. Fran is survived by her two sons, Robert G. Owens, III (Cindy) and Stanley H. Owens (Carolyn) and by her grandchildren Stacey Dalen, Elizabeth Haley, Brady Owens, Bryan Owens, Gordon Owens and Alice Nanda. Fran was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Jeanne Pitt. John Hess of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate a memorial service in the Phillips Chapel at Frasier Meadows on Friday, April 12 at 1:00 PM. Fran will be joining her husband Bob when she is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
