Gary Wayne Douglas Sr., 71, of Fort Lupton, Colorado died at home on January 31, 2025. He lost a quick six-week, unfair battle with cancer, but he never lost his smile or sense of humor. He was born on a United States Air Force base in Cambridge, England on February 18, 1953. Gary never met a stranger and made fast friends with everyone he encountered. He married his high school sweetheart in 1972 and enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1972 - 1976. Gary received his Bachelor's degree from Rollins College, Florida. After he retired from Ball Aerospace in 2020 after many years negotiating government contracts in the Aerospace industry, Gary was excited to hit the open road with his wife, Diana Douglas in their new RV. After their first five-month road trip, they were eager to get back to Colorado to build their home which was completed in October 2024. Gary enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii, attending his grand-children's various sporting events, woodworking, tinkering on his Comet Caliente but nothing compared to his love of gardening and watching his trees and garden flourish - much like the life and large family he built with his one true love!
Gary is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Diana and their three children, Gary (Hillary) Douglas Jr., Colorado Springs, Daniele (Adam) Mestas, Fort Lupton and Deanna (Travis) Leitner, Firestone. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Taylor Douglas, Chandler Douglas, Kalley Douglas, Lauren Leitner, Lane Nolan, Garrett (Maren) Douglas, Colton Douglas, Riley Douglas, Elaina Leitner, Alleyah Eldridge, Brynn Leitner, Tara Leitner, Sofia Douglas and Annalleyah Black. Gary is proceeded in death by his parents, Samuel and Brenda Douglas, his brothers Rick and Rusty Douglas, his two grandsons Austin Gross and Elijah Eldridge and his one great-grandson Kaden Jimenez.
