George Kamas passed away on June 22 at age 86. He was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Christ and Minnie (Bournias) Kamas. He served in the U.S. Air Force and he graduated from the University of Colorado, earning his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. George lived most of his life in Boulder, Colorado, working at the National Bureau of Standards in the Time and Frequency Division where two of his projects were TVTime and Closed Captioning. Upon retirement he worked at his repair business, operating a small shop in Lafayette, CO. He was an avid reader and enjoyed writing poetry. He is survived by his wife Colleen, daughters Jane (Alan Cason) and Jill (David Kennedy); granddaughter Jesse Strang; siblings James, Peter, Betty Ganousis and Elaine Nelson; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; son Frank and his siblings Frieda, Gus, Ted, Stanley, Mary and Alex. Services will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11:30 am at Greenwood & Myers Mortuary, 2969 Baseline Rd., Boulder, CO.
