Fritz Keefner
November 1, 1939 – May 10, 2018

Born in 1939, Blessed by his adoption by Joe and Evelyn Keefner, Des Moines, IA.
Fritz Graduated from the University of Iowa in 1962, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and Scabbard and Blade, as well as being on the University swim team.
He Married Maureen O’Dell, and while employed at Aetna Life Insurance Company they lived in Hartford Conn. and Milwaukee, Wi. In 1968 he was schooled on Wall Street and employed by Francis I. Dupont to work in their office in Des Moines from 1969-1970. From 1971-1975 he was a senior Group and Pension Rep of the Principal Group Life Insurance Co in Des Moines.
In 1975 he moved the family to Steamboat Springs where he began VenCap Resources, Inc. and was a member of the Steamboat Springs Rotary Club. In 986 the family moved to Boulder, Co where he continued with VenCap resources, a business specializing in the financing of early stage businesses.
Through the years Fritz was on the Board of The Colorado Head Injury Foundation, Center for People with Disabilities, Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, Boulder Country Club, as well as many private companies.
Fritz was an athlete in his prime. He really enjoyed bike riding and participated in some famous biking events such as RAGBRAI in Iowa, and Ride the Rockies and the Triple By-Pass here in CO. He ran in the Boulder Bolder, did the Steamboat Marathon and Tri-Athlon. He loved hiking over the Divide with Family and friends and was a pretty avid tennis player.
Fritz leaves his Wife, Maureen of 56 years, his daughter Cynthia Maytag, son-in-law David Maytag and their children Otto and Ava, of Cave Creek, AZ., a son John Joseph Keefner, daughter-in law Lourdes, and their children Cruz, William and Elena, of Lafayette, Co.
Fritz’s parents and a daughter, Christine precede him in death.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, 902 Grant Avenue in Louisville, Co. with a reception afterwards. A private family burial will be held at Rysby Church cemetery, Boulder, Co.
