George J. Morzinski was born October 16, 1933 in San Diego, California to Bernard and Elizabeth (Muszynski)Morzinski.
George joined the USAF in September 1952, and was an active staff sergeant until June 1957.
He married Janice E. (Kodym) Morzinski on April 27, 1957 in Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel overlooking Lake Superior in Duluth Minnesota. They then moved to Boulder, Colorado where George was stationed at the National Bureau of Standards.
George attended the college of Engineering and Applied Science at University of Colorado Boulder, earning a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.
The couple moved to the Washington D.C. area in 1962, and stayed there for 35 years, raising two children, Paul and Mary Ann.
George earned his Masters degree in Engineering Administration at George Washington University in 1962, and began a long career working for the Department of Defense,
as a satellite engineer, earning a Top Secret Clearance while working in several different areas in the Intelligence Community.
He became a legislative fellow to Senator Harry Reid, (Nevada); in 1987; and was instrumental in several aspects of the development of the B-2 Stealth Bomber.
George retired from the DoD in 1997; and he and Janice returned to Boulder to build their retirement home in the foothills of Sunshine Canyon.
George was an extremely active member of the Knights of Columbus, both in Arlington, Virginia, and Boulder; earning his 4th degree in Virginia.
He was also very active in CU Boulder’s FOCUS group for many years, and a devout member of the Serra Club.
George and Janice enjoyed an active retirement life, traveling to many different countries by cruise ship, and visiting family and friends all over the United States.
George’s hobbies included fishing, reading, and going to the Casinos in Blackhawk whenever possible.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 25, at 4:00 pm with a vigil at 5:30; at Greenwood & Myers Mortuary in Boulder.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 26, at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will be provided in Jubilee Hall after Mass.
Internment will be scheduled at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery; for sometime during the last week of March, 2024.
George was preceded in death by his wife Janice; his son Paul B. Morzinski; and his sister Florence Stowski.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Catherine Redmond; San Diego, CA; his daughter; Mary Ann (Morzinski) Sarnovsky, two grandchildren, Adam and Grace Sarnovsky; Vienna, VA; niece, Catherine Mary Ornelas and her husband John Ornelas and their children, Xavier and Alexandria.
