Glenda Ruth Gabbard Holmes
Glenda Ruth (Gabbard) Holmes, age 82, made her transition to peace on July 20, 2024, after a long bout with dementia and heart issues. She was born on February 27, 1942, in Monahans, Texas to Glenn Bishop Gabbard and Ruth Twyla Goodknight Gabbard. She was preceded in death by her four-year-old son Clint with cerebral palsy in 1967. As a child Glenda lived in Oklahoma City, Little Rock and San Angelo, Texas. In Dallas as a strong single mom she worked full time and attended college, obtaining her BS degree in Public Administration. She raised her daughter Christine Eustis Lott who now resides in Dallas, with grandson Weslyn Myers Lott. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bill Holmes of Lafayette, Colorado, and her sister Carol Gabbard Beck of Comanche, Texas. Glenda Holmes was a loved and caring psychotherapist specializing in women's issues. She was an early member of the Columbine Unity Spiritual Center serving as President of the Board near its beginning. She and Bill had traveled to Europe, China, Australia, and other romantic locales. She especially enjoyed exploring genealogy with her sister Carol touring many sites for eleven years and gathered family secrets and history. She always loved getting hugs from her dear friends. Those friends became her "Angels" during her dementia and surrounded her with their love and support. The memories of her loving presence will live on with us.
