In Loving Memory of Hermine Puska

Hermine Puska, 81, of Boulder, Colorado passed away on the 24th of August, 2022. Hermine
was born in Sekau, Austria, on the 26th of June, 1941 to Josefa Kokalj and Josef Firgo. After a
four-year struggle with disabilities caused by stroke, she died peacefully in her sleep. Hermine is survived by her son Klaus (& Carolyn) Puska and her daughter Claudia (& Martyn) Puska, and her grandchildren Mikayla, Catalina, Jasmine, and Maya. She is also survived by Dieter Puska, her former husband, with whom she remained friends.

Born in Austria in the beautiful province of Styria, Hermine had a deep love of the mountains.
She immigrated to the United States in 1967 with her young family. In 1976, she and Dieter
opened the Glass Chimney restaurant in Carmel, Indiana, followed a few years later by a
second establishment, Deeter’s. The two were among the best restaurants in the region. By the
late eighties, Hermine was drawn to Colorado by the mountains and active lifestyle. A life-long
sportswoman, she loved to hike, camp, and ski, a passion she shared with family and friends.
Moving to Boulder, Colorado was like coming home. In 2001 her first grandchild, Mikayla was
born, followed quickly by Catalina, Jasmine, and Maya. Hermine lived life to the fullest and
embraced grand-motherhood with gusto. She helped the girls in every facet of life and left an
indelible imprint on them. Her strong and generous spirit left an impression on all who knew her.
She will be forever in our hearts.
