Jan Anthony Jancosek
Jan Anthony Jancosek passed away Monday November 2, 2015 at his home in Boulder, Colorado.
Jan was born in Smilno, Slovakia on June 14, 1927 to Joseph and Mary Jancosek. He left his home (which was then communist Czecho-Slovakia) as a result of the 1949 coup d’état by the Russians which created a hopeless situation for him. He came to the United States in 1952 by way of Caracas, Venezuela. Jan was drafted in to the United States Army six months after moving to the US and served in the Korean War.
In 1955 he moved to Ohio. There he attended Ohio State University. He earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University in 1959. While at the university he met his future wife, Elizabeth. He moved to Colorado in 1979. Jan’s career included working for Rockwell Corporation in Ohio as a Senior Cost Analyst and at Rocky Flats in Colorado. Jan was a Member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight.
Jan married Elizabeth Gravely on September 28. 1957 in Pennsylvania. They remained happily married until Jan’s death. Jan and Elizabeth have three children, Jan, Maria and Tony. He and his wife loved to travel. They have been Members of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church since moving to Boulder in 1979.
Jan is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his children Maria Arellano and Tony Jancosek. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alysha Patterson, Rose Arellano, Alex Arellano, Isabella Moles, Danielle Jancosek and Thomas Jancosek. Additionally Jan is survived by three great grandchildren, Jordan Patterson, Brayden Patterson and Jackson Patterson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Joseph Jancosek, Mary Macusova and Martha Kravec and his son Jan Jancosek.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 5:30PM with Recitation of the Rosary starting at 6:30PM at Greenwood and Myers Mortuary.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 6 at 10:00PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Boulder, Colorado, 2312 14th Street.
