(Norma) Jean Danielson passed away peacefully on December 17, 2017 at the age of 86. She was born Norma Jean Lindgren in Bennington, Kansas on February 21st 1931.
She was the first in her family to attend college, and she graduated from Bethany College with degrees in Business and English in June 1952. She met her husband, Laurence Danielson, at Bethany and they married on November 13th, 1951. Following college she moved to Harrington Kansas where she taught English. She then was an English and Drama teacher in Radium, KS and ended her time in Kansas as a librarian for the Caldwell schools.
In 1960 they moved to Colorado which is where she raised her 3 girls. She was a wonderful homemaker and also involved in her children’s activities being a Girl Scout leader, a 4H leader as well as being a seamstress for outfits and costumes over the years.
Jean was very involved in Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and served in choir, as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent and as Church Council president. In addition to being very active in her local church she was a key member of the Lutheran Church Women of the Rocky Mountain Synod and held various leadership roles including President from 1972-1976, was a member of the Synod Executive Committee and Leadership Membership Trainer.
Jean was active in Boulder as well: delivering Meals on Wheels, working as a bookkeeper for local companies and working in the personnel department for the City of Boulder.
In their retirement, Jean and Larry enjoyed several trips including one to Africa, several to Europe and also visited all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. Jean was surprised at her joy of being a grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whenever she could whether they were in Colorado, or Brussels, Belgium.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Laurence, her daughters – Laura Danielson, Jan Osburn, Linda Danielson Ritter (Christian) and her five grandchildren: Andrew, Jamie and Elaina Osburn and Martin and Nicole Ritter. She will be missed greatly by family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran church and Tru Community Hospice – both in Boulder. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
