Jeffrey “Jeff” C. Harris passed away on November 7, 2022 in Boulder, Colorado. Jeff was born on October 26, 1961 in Tuscon, Arizona to Don and Joanne Harris. A Celebration of Life is to be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at 6561 St. Vrain Road, Longmont, CO. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Growing up in Arizona, Jeff played in the Minor All-Star Little League, where he was awarded certificates for his outstanding achievements. In addition, Jeff attended Fred “The Fox” Snowden Basketball school, earning a Certificate of Merit.
He enjoyed motocross and would give his mother near panic attacks as he knew no fear and was an avid outdoorsman from the start. At the early age of 7, he led a pack of fellow 7-year-olds out into the desert wearing only his underwear, a cowboy hat, and boots with his walking stick. To say he was fearless from the start would be an understatement.
Jeff's love of music started at a very young age joining the choir at school and Church. He excelled in most every musical attribute; from singing to the piano, drums, and more. Not to mention, he was well-known for being able to play the guitar with the best of the best. Anyone who knew Jeff could imagine him sitting in his favorite spot next to the fireplace, playing one of his many guitars and getting lost in the music. Walking into his "rock room" that featured his countless instruments was like walking into the Rock & Roll hall of fame - amazing, to say the least.
Jeff and the band Avitar were well known in the music circle performing in many venues, touring Arizona and the country. He was extremely gifted in his love for writing, recording, and playing music and will forever be remembered for his talents.
Jeff moved to Boulder, Colorado, in 1985. He fell in love with the mountains, rivers, and streams. On his day off or after work at Woodland Brothers, he would often go to the river to fly fish. His career path in construction led him to work on several projects for the City of Boulder, including BridgeWalk Apartments, Sage Court, and Woodlands.
After Leaving the City of Boulder In 1992, Jeff started his own company, Jeff Harris Construction Services; that path took him to work for Gold Lake Mountain Resort. He formed many friends and was grateful to work in a sacred place. After leaving Gold Lake, Jeff met Bruce Tenenbaum (BATCO) and was welcomed into the fold, where he became family to Bruce, Kathy and Shelby. Jeff cherished working for his many clients, who also became family to him. In addition, Jeff was a master carpenter and felt privileged to work alongside Jonathon Rodgers. Recently, Jeff had joined the team at Running Rabbit Home Building and was excited and looking forward to being a part of the team.
Jeff’s face would light up sharing stories about the adventures he embarked upon with his fly-fishing buddy, Scotty Ozacke. He mastered the art of fly-fishing, going as far as to learn how to tie his own flies, a meticulous practice that requires patience and dedication. After a long day of power fishing, he loved sitting around the campfire, cooking a feast, and being in the wilderness. Whether at home or in nature, he loved nothing more than to share his passion for cooking with his family and friends. You never went home hungry after a visit!
Jeff was fascinated by geology and was fortunate to meet Joe Dorris, who graciously invited Jeff to go mining on some of his mining claims. On the mountain of dirt, he was in 7th heaven, not to be exceeded in finding the "needle in a haystack." Jeff and his brother, Scott (a master in jewelry making) started a company: Gem Stones. Jeff and Scott sold many beautiful pieces of jewelry at trade shows and online.
Jeff will also be warmly remembered for his undeniable love for animals, including his beloved Kodi, Lucas, Sofie, and Gracie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Harris, his mother, Joanne Betz, and his brother, Scott Harris.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Deborah Grass, and his Sister, Rebecca Rodriquez (Robert). Families of Sean Boroviak (Terri, Jordan); Brandt Boroviak (Erin, Zack, Brianna, Nicole); His niece, Mikelyn Bogart (Shawn, Drake, Billy); His nephew, Jordan Harris, and many cousins and relatives.
Jeff will be commemorated for his gentle spirit, quick wit, quirky storytelling, kindness, caring, and sense of humor that could make anyone in the room laugh. He truly was one of a kind. You will always remain in our hearts because you touched so many hearts.
