Jerrald Leander Ranta
Jerry Ranta was 81 years old when he passed away Tuesday, April 12th, 2016. He was an English professor at the University of Wyoming from 1968 until his retirement in 1999. In the early 2000s, he moved from Laramie to Boulder to be closer to the Shambala Center and the Buddhist community. Over the years, Jerry enjoyed many retreats to the Shambala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. His family grew fast in the last ten years; he is survived by: his sister, Nelma Swartz of Cortland, Ohio; his son, Matthew Ranta and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Ranta, and grandchildren Georgia Ranta (6 y.o.) and Zachary Ranta (3 y.o.) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; his son, Owen Ranta and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Ranta, and grandchildren Maxwell Ranta (9 y.o.) and Eluiza Ranta (8 y.o.), of Romeoville, Illinois; his son, Gavin Ranta of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and many dear friends.
A traditional Tibetan Buddhist Sukhavati ceremony is planned for Friday, April 15th, at the Boulder Shambala Center at 1345 Spruce Street, at 6:00 p.m.
