Joanne Betz

Joanne M. Betz passed away February 11, 2016. Joanne was born to Clark and Mary Ellen Metzler on August 29, 1931 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She attended two years of secretarial school in Colorado Springs and received a Secretarial Diploma. Joanne married Don Harris. Joanne and Don had three children, and later divorced. She married Roland Betz. They remained happily married until his death in 2001. After Roland’s death Joanne’s dog “Gracie Mae” was her constant companion for 15 years.
Joanne was an avid gardener. You would find her outside tending to her beautiful roses and flowers. She had a special talent in arranging her flowers.
Joanne was a woman of many talents. One of those talents was her ability to traverse down a ski slope while enjoying the fresh Colorado mountain air. She was also an excellent cook, providing wonderful meals for her family. Quick witted, she enjoyed good conversation, good food and a glass of wine.
Joanne loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church where she donated many hours as a volunteer for St. Cecelia’s Guild, the Altar Guild and any anywhere she could be of service. She was also a proud member of the Heritage Foundation.
We will miss her smile but we know she is tending her Heavenly Garden.
Joanne is survived by her children Robert Scott Harris, Rebecca Rodriguez (Robert), and Jeff Harris (Debbie Grass), her grandchildren Mikelyn Bogart, Amy Conover and Jordan Harris, her great grandchildren Drake and Billye Borgart and Ryan and Rylee Conover and her daughter-in-law Joy Harris. She is preceded in death by her parents Clark and Mary Ellen Metzler and Roland Betz.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1:00pm at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Longmont. Reception will follow at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Contributions can be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church or charity of your choice.
