John Patrick Outlaw, 46, was born to Lanny and Camille Outlaw on September 30, 1968, in Houston, Texas. In 1971 the Outlaw family moved to Covington, Louisiana, where John attended both St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s School. He graduated from Taylor High School in Katy, Texas, in 1986. During high school, John enjoyed swimming backstroke for Tchefuncta Country Club and playing golf. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and attained the highest achievement of Eagle Scout.
John graduated from University of Houston in 1990, obtaining a Bachelors of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant management from the Conrad Hilton College. At UH he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and held the office of Historian. Somehow, Johnny was able to be a frat boy, work part-time, and graduate Cum Laude in four years.
John’s career brought him first to Newport Beach, California. He served as Food and Beverage manager at Newport Beach City Club and then at Newport Beach Yacht Club. In 1993, John moved to Colorado and opened one of the earlier casinos in Blackhawk, “Blazing Saddles.” He eventually became the General Manager at Trios in Boulder, where he excelled in giving everyone the ultimate dining experience, including Tony Bennett.
John enjoyed gardening, playing trivia, hiking, his beloved kitty Sambuca, and fishing. He traveled as far north as Alaska to drop a line, and as far south as Peru to pound a trail. He loved music, especially the blues played in New Orleans, his favorite town. Exploring the world was great, but nothing pleased him more than firing up the grill to cook his friends a fabulous meal. His culinary talents, coupled with his wicked sense of humor, kept our taste buds happy and bellies laughing.
John is survived by his parents Lanny and Camille Outlaw of Lafayette, Colorado; his sister Laura (Don) Hooper of Alamo, California; his brother Eric (Cynthia) Outlaw of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two nephews Doug and Adam; two nieces Jennifer and Amanda; and one great niece, Ashton.
