“Joe” Hibl passed away Thursday December 10, 2015 at his home in Boulder, Colorado.
Joe was born in Dickinson, North Dakota to Joseph and Mary (Kudrna) Hibl. He graduated from Model High School in Dickinson; joined the U.S. Navy in 1945, serving until August 1948; and then studied at Dickinson State College. Joe wed Mary Ann Kostelecky on September 25, 1950.
Joe and Mary Ann then moved to Bozeman, Montana, where he studied at Montana State University, attaining a Bachelor’s Degree of Engineering in May, 1953; then worked as an engineer in the agricultural field. After moving to Boulder in 1957, he worked as an engineer in the Aerospace field for Beech Aircraft and Ball Aerospace before retiring in 1992.
Joe was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus, and SERRA Club of Boulder County, where he volunteered countless hours, and held several leadership positions. Joe loved being with family and friends. He was also an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping and hunting.
Joe is survived by his wife Mary Ann; brother Robert of Grand Junction, CO; two sisters Martha Wagner and Dorothy Kostelecky, both of Dickinson; six children David (Kay), Diana Bailey (Mike), Andrew (Lydia), Anthony “Tony”, Mark (Michele), and Matthew (Terry); 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Joe and Mary Ann recently celebrated their 65th Anniversary surrounded by family.
