Judith Mary (Grigg) Falco (formerly Bodin) passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Born in Great Falls, Montana, on October 28, 1944, to Walter Grigg and H. Arline (Brizendine) Grigg, Judy lived a full and vibrant life across various places, including Larned, Kansas; Lawrence, Kansas; Boulder, Colorado; Gainesville, Florida; Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador; and Quito, Ecuador. Her life's journey was marked by rich experiences and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Judy had two daughters, Debbie (Bodin) O'Grady and Michelle Bodin, with her first husband, Jim Bodin. She met her second husband, Orlando Falco, on a trip to the Galapagos Islands and lived there and in Quito for many years. After divorcing, she moved back to Boulder, Colorado, to start a new chapter in her life.
Her professional achievements in travel and art, combined with her dedication as a school bus driver for the Boulder Valley School District, and property manager for Snug Harbor Village, her condominium complex, showcased her multifaceted talents and love for people. Judy lived independently and maintained close relationships with her family, friends, and neighbors, speaking with many every week. She was a beautiful person, deeply empathetic, and cherished by those around her. Judy was known for her larger-than-life hugs.
Judy graduated from Lawrence High School in 1962 and then attended the University of Kansas (KU) until she married and later decided to complete her education. She graduated from the University of Colorado (CU Boulder) in 1990 from the College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She was a devoted fan of college football and basketball, especially cheering for CU and KU. She also supported the Denver Broncos. Judy loved nature, wildlife, spiders and snakes, photography, art, oil painting, science, good movies, watching BBC mysteries, spending time with family, and especially buying, wrapping, and giving gifts.
Judy's life was defined by her resilience and generous spirit. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (David) O'Grady and Michelle Bodin (the late Patrick Cain); grandchildren, Juleah O'Grady, Emily Cain, and Alicia (Tyler) Stanworth (Cain); great-grandchildren, Dylan and Marley Stanworth; brother, Stan (Bonnie) Grigg; sister, Mady (Grigg) Feist (the late Stan Feist); and cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter A. Grigg, mother, H. Arline (Grigg) Ewald; brother-in-law, Stan Feist; son-in-law, Patrick Cain, and grandson, PJ Cain.
Judy's legacy is one of love, courage, and an indomitable spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of Judy's life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Greenwood & Myers Mortuary, located at 2969 Baseline Road, Boulder, CO 80303. Her family and friends are invited to share their memories and honor her remarkable life.
