Julie Frances Denham Robie, age 73 of Boulder, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She was born to the late George Robert Denham and Elizabeth Ann Martin on April 16, 1941 in Lincoln, NE.
Julie grew up in Omaha, NE attending Holy Cross Catholic School and Mercy High School before attending Duchesne College.
In addition to raising her two children, she enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and gardening. Her appreciation for the beauty of Boulder was endless. She especially loved seeing the deer in her neighborhood, blooming flowers, and the magnificent Flatirons.
For decades, Julie faced her growing health issues with strength, bravery and humor. No matter how bad things got she was always able to make everyone around her laugh. One of her favorite phrases was “The trick in life is to get through life like a swan. Above the water you look as if you’re calm, but underneath you’re paddling like hell!” The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illnesses.
Julie is survived by her sister Mary Liebentritt and her husband Richard, sister Georganne Richter and her husband Earl, her daughter Cristy Harland and her husband Bob, her son Mark Robie and his wife Kimberly. She is also survived by four grandchildren, RJ Harland, JT Harland, Peyton Robie and Skyler Robie. Julie also had five nieces and nephews, Lisa Lusk, Ann Riha, Nancy Mills, Jeff Lohman, Brad Lohman and Sara Mitchell.
Visitation will be at Greenwood & Myers Mortuary, on Friday, July 11 at 6:30 with a rosary at 7:00. Funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, July 12 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 898 14th Street, Boulder CO 80302.
