Keith Thompson
September 18, 1956 - February 8, 2025
Keith Eugene Thompson was born September 18, 1956 in San Diego, California and passed away on February 8, 2025 in Longmont, Colorado, at the age of 68.
He is preceded in death by his parents Janis Nielsen Thompson and Bruce Eugene Thompson. He is survived by his siblings, Charles Bruce Thompson (and wife Sasha), Candace Thompson, Janette Thompson-Purtell (and husband Tomas), and by his nephew Matthew Thompson, niece Sophie Thompson (and fiancé Masen Povich), great-nephew Jaydon Rothe-Thompson, and step-niece Vanessa Moore. He was married to Karen Fay Hoy from 1985-1988, and to Mary McEnary, from 2002-2020, who in his remaining days was frequently by his side.
Keith loved the outdoors; fishing, camping, hiking, boating, sky diving, skiing, gardening, travels, and trying a new restaurant he had never been to before. He was active in many sports and played on many Varsity Championship Teams. But most of all he had a flare for great fun and excitement with friends he loved.
Keith graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Architecture (1983), and University of Colorado with a degree in Fine Arts (1978).
He worked for many prestigious firms including Pouw & Assoc., Zeiler-Pennock, Studio 2 Architects, and lastly for his own company Thompson Architects. He was preeminent at communicating graphically with strong rendering and sketching abilities and won several AIA awards including the Citation Award for Urban Design (1984), and the Honors Award for Interior Design (1983). He designed and won an award for the Park Meadows Medical Center, worked on and designed buildings and first floor entrances on the 16th Street Denver Mall, remodeled the United States of America Presidents "waiting" room in Washington D.C.'s Union Station, and transformed it into a beautiful restaurant. He even designed some of COORS Ceramics Office Building and Johnstown's future business intersection plats! Keith was the lead architect on the Bronco's current indoor practice facility. In addition to his love of architecture, he enjoyed being an artist and painter.
Keith was kind, outgoing, good-natured, loved living life, and was so much fun to be around! He had many friends all over the world and was always thinking of them. He will be missed by many.
