Lance Mikkelsen

The Mikkelsen family is deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Lance Mikkelsen on February 16, 2022, in Boulder, Colorado. He was a prominent OB/GYN physician in Santa Fe. Lance was a devoted family man and enjoyed traveling the world with his wife of 52 years, Judith Mikkelsen. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved the outdoors, and was loved deeply by his family. His legacy continues with his granddaughter, Tyler Mikkelsen, who lives in Denver and attends the University of Colorado. He is survived by his sons John and Mark, and daughters in law, Brandi Mikkelsen (John) and Sarah Mikkelsen (Mark).

Lance was born on October 13, 1941, and was raised in Kenesaw, Nebraska. His parents were Max and Mary Mikkelsen, both deceased. Lance began practicing medicine in the public health service in Many Farms, Arizona. He started practicing obstetrics and gynecology in 1979 at St. Vincent’s hospital in Santa Fe. He was a graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical School and completed his residency in Albuquerque.

Lance was a wonderful friend to all who were privileged to know him.
