Lanny Outlaw,86, of Lafayette, Colorado, passed away September 22, 2022 with his family surrounding him. Lanny was born in Aberdeen South Dakota to parents Harry and Ella Mae Outlaw. He graduated from Aberdeen Central High School and attended Northern University for two years before obtaining his engineering degree from South Dakota School of Mines in 1958. Lanny loved being an engineer. His first career at Shell Oil Company spanned 29 years and several cities including New York, New Orleans and Houston. Within months of retiring from Shell, Lanny was back doing what he loved with Western Gas Resources in Denver. He retired as CEO of Western in 2001. Lanny's joy was a property in the Black Hills of South Dakota that he and his wife, Camille named the "Golden West." It was here he enjoyed family gatherings surrounded by the beauty of nature. He fished and hunted with his dogs Boulder, Bullet, Bonnie and Clyde always at his side. He repaired fences until the cows went home. He was a man of many projects, “none too small or none too big, and always with a get it done and get it done right mind set”. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Camille Donahue Outlaw; his daughter, Laura Hooper (Donald) of Alamo, CA; his son, Eric (Cynthia) of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Jennifer Jones (Sonny Saldua) of Gilbert, AZ; Douglas Hooper, San Francisco, CA; Adam Outlaw, Topeka, KS; Amanda Outlaw, Lawrence, KS and great grandchildren Ashton and Ka'eo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son John Patrick Outlaw, his brother Gary and sister Tiance.
