Lawrence Haslett

August 24, 1943 — February 4, 2015

I lost the love of my life on February 4, 2015 due to respiratory failure from Invasive Aspergillus and pneumonia.

Larry was 71. He was the only son of Robert and Dorothy Sutherland Haslett born in Detroit August 24, 1943. He lived in the same house until he left for California in his early 20's. He attended Walsh Institute of Accountancy and the University of Michigan. During the Vietnam era he enlisted in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic and was stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming; Phu Cat, Vietnam (1967-68), and Sacramento, California. While in Wyoming he met me, Corinne Reed Haslett, at a stop light. We were married three years later on June 14, 1969 in Glencoe, IL. We returned to the Detroit area where he worked for Sears before moving to Ann Arbor, MI to attend the University of Michigan, work at the EPA vehicle testing lab, and raise our family. After 18 years, he transferred to EPA HQ in Washington, DC where he retired in 2007 after 33 yrs. with EPA. We left Bethesda, MD for Boulder, CO in the summer of 2013.

Being a Detroit boy he had a love of cars. He would stop mid-sentence if his eye caught an interesting car. He enjoyed traveling both in the United States and overseas. We toured the U.S. and Canada with our travel trailer and visited Europe, Korea, China, Australia, and New Zealand.

He brought two daughters Diane R. Haslett (Ben Job), and Christine N. Weisenberger (Michael) into this world; one with his own hands. He is survived by his wife Corinne, his daughters, his sister Joan Jayne of Mechanicsburg, PA and 4 grandchildren: Jason and Samantha Weisenberger of Brighton, MI; Trevor and Jordyn Jobe of Superior, CO.

He was a good husband, father, son, brother, and father-in-law. He will be missed for his conversations, insights, generosity, and as an enthusiastic traveling companion. But most above all, he will be missed for his sharp wit and spontaneous laughter.
