Lawrence E. Maurer Jr.
(Larry)
June 10,1941 – May 5, 2021
Larry lost his battle with cancer, but he fought a brave and courageous battle.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Dr. Lawrence E. Maurer and Helen. They made their way to Boulder when Larry was six months old. He married his wife Linda, in 1969 and together, they enjoyed everyone and everything, and laughed and cried together for 51 ½ years.
Larry sold golf cars until he retired last fall at the age of 79. Golf was his first love and he started winning tournaments at the age of 14, and in 1975, he won the Colorado State Amateur and the Boulder Country Club Championship.
A few years after that, boating became his first love at Lake McConaughey in Nebraska with his wife and daughter, Molly Marie.
As a family, over spring break, Maui was their destination for many years. So many blessed memories and treasured times to be remembered.
He spent many years fishing at Las Lagos Ranch. Living in Nederland for the past eighteen years, he and Linda made many new friends, who in the final days, helped care for him and gave loving support to Linda.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his sisters, Mary Lynne Cameron (Mike), Annie Dietz (Bob) and brother, Chris Maurer (Carol). Also surviving him are nieces and nephews who he truly loved. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Helen Maurer and daughter, Molly Marie Maurer.
A private family burial will be held at Green Mountain Cemetery and a Celebration of Life will follow as soon as arrangements are completed.
