Leo Gallagher

November 30, 1931 — September 5, 2012

Leo Anthony Gallagher, 80, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012.
He was born November 30, 1931, to John and Izah Gallagher near their dairy farm in
Boulder. He graduated from Pleasant View School, Boulder High School, and the University of Colorado. Afterward, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned home and married the love of his life, Vian Cator on July 25, 1959. His family was always the focus of his life.
Leo spent his career in the Oil and Gasoline industry. His career with Exxon Corporation kept him, and his quickly growing family, moving around the states, to the far side of the world, safely through a North African revolution, and eventually back to his native Colorado. In Colorado, he founded G.G.G. Oil Company, which he ran as a prosperous enterprise for over 20 years. After the sale of G.G.G. he ran Offen Petroleum prior to his retirement.
His deep and abiding Catholic faith embodied itself in the love, generosity, and respect he offered to everyone he met. Among other activities, he was a member of the Neuman Club and Knights of Columbus; he also served on the Board of Directors at United Bank, and was the Finance Committee Chairman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Memories of him will always warm the hearts and bring smiles to the faces of all who knew him. Today the angels in heaven sing in joyous celebration, for another saint has joined them.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Vian of Arvada, CO, six children: Tim (Liz) of Encinitas, CA, Shawn (Katherine) of Raleigh, NC, Izah Katherine of Denver, CO, Anne Marie DeJong (Rob) of Las Vegas, NV, Bill (Sue) of Arvada, CO, and Gwendolyn Stukey (Chad) of Golden, CO, 1 brother, Terry (Nancy) of Boulder, CO, and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
