Leslie Cresswell

Dr. Leslie Anne Fischer Cresswell, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend passed away from cancer on August 14, 2019. She was born with her twin sister Rachael in Longmont, Colorado, the daughters of Shelly Zumsteg and Anthony Fischer on January 10, 1988. On August 12, 2012 she was united in marriage to Caleb Cresswell at the top of Thunderhead Mountain in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. On February 21, 2019 she gave birth to a son, Corbet Cresswell. She graduated with honors from Monarch High School in 2006, received her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion, Honors Program from the University of Wyoming in 2010, and completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Regis University in 2013. She was an avid soccer player through high school and into college. She was also an accomplished flute player.
Leslie’s first passion was helping and serving people, it was the reason she became a physical therapist. Growing up she was a part of several mission trips serving various communities in need. She was also a member of church choir and bell choir serving in worship for church services. In college, she met a wonderful community of Christian women and served as a small group leader through the Navigators, which was ultimately how she was introduced to Caleb. Then, after she finished her physical therapy degree she chose to work for the senior population, serving people as they aged. When she got her dog Mogul, she trained her as a therapy dog so she could go to work with her and see the participants. She also volunteered her time at Flatirons Community Church serving in the Children’s Ministry.
Her second passion was spending time in the mountains surrounded by God’s beauty with family and friends. This took on many forms. In the winter she spent her weekends skiing down the steepest ski slopes she could find and typically the more trees the better the run. Her favorite places to ski were Steamboat and Mary Jane. She was even courageous enough to go Heli-Skiing with Caleb. She also took up ice climbing, and spent time snow shoeing and cross-country skiing. In the summer her time was spent camping, backpacking, hiking, rock climbing, biking, and climbing 14ers. Her favorite place was the Maroon Bells. She was always the lead mountain goat up some of the hardest 14ers in Colorado. She made it to the top of 49 of them. Her last trip to the mountains was in July, where we spent a weekend in White River National Forest as a family showing Corbet how to camp and enjoy the outdoors. Leslie’s spirit will always be felt in the mountains.
She is survived by a husband, Caleb; a son, Corbet; parents Shelly and Tony; twin sister Rachael with her husband Michael Kabala; countless extended family members, and many many friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, August 24th, at First Presbyterian Church in Boulder, Colorado with a reception to follow. Leslie loved nature and wildflowers, but never wanted to see one picked. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions to support Corbet and his College fund.
