Lisa Fasullo, age 60, of Boulder, CO, died unexpectedly on Sep. 26, 2024. She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, John Fasullo; her caring daughter, Jolie, and sons, Harlan and Carter; her parents, Reuben and Arlene Mark; and her brothers Steve and Peter Mark.
To those who knew her, Lisa was a ray of light. She was a radiant, sensitive woman with an exceptional ability to connect to those around her. Lisa's brilliance and warmth was felt throughout Boulder. Lisa was the founder and visionary behind Bandshell Boogie, a beloved community event at the Central Park Bandshell where she partnered with the City of Boulder to bring dance into the open air and under the stars. Lisa was also the founder of Good Mood Wellness, the Center for Transformative Movement, Dance with a Doc, and the FreeMotion Dance Studio, entities that promoted Lisa's goal of community wellness through movement and interpersonal connection.
Lisa's brilliance went well beyond the dance floor. She earned master's degrees in Health Education from Columbia University and Social Work from New York University, where her thesis focused on creating a successful youth center. She had an extraordinary gift for blending knowledge with compassion, offering her heart and mind in equal measure. Her greatest lessons, however, were taught not in classrooms but through movement-she showed us how movement could heal and how it could bridge the spaces between us. She had a way of seeing the potential in everyone she met, lifting us up and encouraging us toward our own healing and spiritual growth through dance. In her presence, many of us found joy, inspiration, and an expansive sense of community.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, we shall remember Lisa for her exuberance and as the bright light she constantly shone upon all. She may never know just how many lives she touched, but she felt the deep love of her family and community which ultimately is the evidence of a life well-lived.
A celebration of life in Chautauqua Park is planned for spring 2025 with an announcement of further details planned in the near future.
