Loren James Hess “Jim” passed away Friday, June 23rd at home in Boulder. He was 75 years old. Jim was born in Denver, CO, and graduated from Cherry Creek High School. After 2 years in the Army, Jim attended the University of Colorado in Boulder. It was there that he met his wife, Mary. After graduating they were married in 1972. After a short time in Denver, they returned to Boulder and Jim started Centennial Appraisal. Jim enjoyed coaching his sons on their baseball and basketball teams. He also purchased and remodeled many homes mentoring his sons and many of their friends.
After closing his real estate appraisal business, Jim and Mary moved to Morgan County to farm before returning to Boulder County. Jim’s favorite hobby was fishing and many of his loved ones remember fishing with him at Los Lagos fishing ranch near Nederland. Surviving are his wife, Mary, and his sons Matt,(Sarah) Tim,(Emily) Steve (April), and 8 grandchildren, Maya, Nora, Anna, Greta, Erica, Charlie, Rebecca, and Sam. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville on Friday, June 30th at 10:00 am with a reception following at the Hess home.
