Mabel Saunders

Mabel Sue Saunders, 80, of Frederick, Colorado, passed away on May 20, 2024 with her husband by her side.

Sue (as she was called by family and friends) was born on October 8, 1943 in Santa Rosa, California. Growing up she lived most of her life in Arvada, Colorado with short stints in California, Utah, and Oklahoma. She was the third of seven children.

She was married early in her adult life having four children; Melody, Martin, Sean, and Dion and lived in Colorado (mostly Arvada), Oregon, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Arizona. She was a single mother for much of her child rearing years until she met the love of her life, Kenneth Saunders in 1978. They were married in August 1979 and have lived in Arvada, Thornton, Wheatridge, and Frederick.

During her professional years she worked at Ridge Home in Arvada; Cobe Laboratories, and Dish Network. She took early retirement from Cobe Laboratories where she had worked up to a supervisor position. She went through the licensing process and had a home child care business where she was loved by all the children, she took care of.

Family was very important to her and she was an avid Denver Bronco fan, so all her children grew up loving the Bronco's as well. She loved to read, travel, and spend as much time as she could with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was close to not only her own children be also her nieces and nephews and the many children that she cared for in her home child care.

Sue was predeceased by her mother, Nora Snodgrass Robbins; her brothers: Raymond P. Martin, William R. Martin Jr., Phillip A. Martin, and Carl R. Martin. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth W. Saunders; her brother, LeRoy J. Martin; her sister Joan C. Ramstetter; her four children, Melody Strausborger, Martin (Christine) Robbins, Sean (Sandra) Saunders, and Dion (Teresa) O'Bannon; her 13 grandchildren Eric (Danielle) Sheridan, Bryce Saunders, Jennifer Lucero, Joshua (Amanda) Robbins, Kandra Strausborger, Nora Robbins, Chad Robbins, Nichelle O'Bannon, Tylor Lucero, Taylor Lucero, Barbara Robbins, Gabrielle O'Bannon, and Carlene Robbins; and her four great grandchildren Trenton Robbins, Hayden Ratliff , Killian Sheridan, and Phaedra Sheridan.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9029 Grand Mesa Avenue, Frederick CO at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any charity of your choice that assist underprivileged families.
