Maida Frensley

February 23, 1917 — December 11, 2013

Maida Parr Frensley passed away peacefully at the Boulder Meridian at the age of 96. Maida was born on February 23, 1917 in Oklahoma City. She attended Oklahoma State University and majored in art. She came to summer school at the University of Colorado in Boulder on a train in 1937 and met her first husband in Denver. At the end of the summer, she returned to Oklahoma. In 2003, she moved to Boulder to be near her family. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae, the First Presbyterian Church in Boulder, Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR), Oklahoma Zoological Society and Oklahoma Art League.

Maida was preceded in death by her first husband Frank W. Frensley, Jr. and her second husband William E. Rudrow. Also, Maida was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter Linda Frensley Lee and husband Wayne of Boulder, Colorado; her son, William (Bill) Frensley and wife Marti of Honolulu, Hawaii; five grandchildren: Sheryl Lee of Topanga, California; Laura Lambrecht and husband Ken of Louisville, Colorado; Paul Lee and wife Summer of Longmont, Colorado; Ann Frensley Winslow and husband Sam of Louisville, Colorado; Robert Frensley of Westminster, Colorado and five great grandchildren, Elijah Diamond, Connor Lambrecht, Evan Lambrecht, Taylor Winslow and Drake Winslow.

Maida will always be remembered for her adventures, her wonderful stories of her travels around the world, her generosity and love for her family and friends. Her secret for a happy life was a sense of humor and a kind heart. She always had a smile for everyone. Before her death, she said, "All that really matters in life is to love and be loved".

The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful and compassionate care provided to Maida by the staff at Meridian Boulder, Dignity Care Boulder and Family Hospice Boulder. A celebration of her life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in January 2014 for her family and close friends. Maida and her sister worked for the American Red Cross during World War II: consequently; in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Red Cross, Mile High Region, 444 Sherman Street, Denver, CO 80302.
