Marilyn Jean Bacon passed away after a long fight with Leukemia on Friday, September 23 at the Collier Hospice in Wheatridge, Colorado. She was 76. Marilyn was born in Livingston, Montana on December 11th, 1939 to Geraldine and Albert Elliott. Her father was employed by the National Park Service, so she grew up and attended school at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park, and Gardiner, Montana. This initiated her love for all creatures and especially the great outdoors.
Marilyn had four children before she met Bill Bacon in 1978. Their love for each other and the outdoors continued throughout their entire life together. They moved into the mountains as soon as they could, so that they could live among the elk, deer, bear and all manners of wildlife.
The first to spot a soaring eagle or dappled fawn, Marilyn rarely let a day go by without pointing and exclaiming, "Bill, come, look!"
Marilyn deeply loved her children and grandkids. She loved her dogs and cats. She loved coffee and cinnamon rolls, walking in the mountains and on beaches, and making and giving away her beautiful quilts. She loved fishing in Wyoming and relaxing in their Hobo Spa.
Everyone could spot Marilyn a mile away with her braid, mohair sweater and beloved book in hand.
Marilyn loved Bill. They spent their days together, working together at CEDCO. They spent their evenings together, their vacations together and they shared the same friends. Marilyn and Bill are one of the lucky couples blessed with an entire life of love, adventure and time together.
Marilyn loved her multitude of friends and that love, admiration and respect was returned ten-fold. She was kind, honest and had very deep and genuine faith in God. Being a longtime friend of Bill W., helping others and being of service gave her so much joy. Marilyn was extremely humble and very generous. She laughed a lot and never took herself too seriously.
She will be dearly missed.
